Turn Signal Issue?
I've got a slightly odd problem with turn signals on my 83 240D.....they work normally with the headlights off, but the left rear signal (only) lights up solid whenever I turn on the headlights, and does not blink when I signal a left turn. The left tail rear tail light does not light up when the left rear turn signal is lit up solid, so it seems that the turn signal bulb somehow is getting energized instead of the tail light.
Maybe unrelated, but I had been playing with another problem behind the instrument panel around the time this cropped up, and also had removed both rear tail light housings to check bulbs and look for corrosion.....I just bought this 240D recently and have been going through the usual checklist of minor things to fix and lube. But this problem started on my watch.....either a tribute to my lame mechanical skills or a complete coincidence! All three of the other signals work as designed. Anybody got some ideas I could run down? |
