the spacer applied the necessary resistance against the caliper when I put it on correctly, but before then I did not have it between the two brake pads and so when I pressed down on the pedal I got no resistance and so the pedal sank. This is just according to what I have done and witnessed. the brakes were bled with the mity vac the same way as before. not sure how the problem was fixed, but I'm glad. I will however be cautious because a lot of you seem to think that the spacer wasn't the issue so I will continue to drive carefully and monitor everything for about a month. Thank you all again.
