Overflow Nipple Repair Kit Will BMW work for MBZ?
The overflow nipple on my '94 wagon is leaking. I did a search and most replies involve JB welding a replacement tube or similar, but BMW has BEHR Radiator Overflow Nipple Repair Kits for sale for something like $1.29 each. It looks like the one in my MBZ BEHR radiator.
Anyone tried to fix a leak with a BMW part? Try BMW 17-11-0-419-132 for a 740il http://www.bmwpartsweb.com/BMW-Parts/Radiator-Overflow-Nipple-Repair-Kit-E38-95-01-740-IIL__17110419132-BEHR-E38740.aspx BMW is closed today, but if anybody has tried this, it looks like it's worth trying. |

Yes, Behr used that part on both brands!

To finish this, I bought the part at the local BMW dealer and it fit perfectly and only took a few minutes to install. Their price however was $3.53 with tax.
No sense screwing around fixing your similarly broken fitting with JB Weld or whatever when you can go this route. Good luck with yours. |
I posted this on the Land Rover forum because the dang radiators are bad for getting broken nipples. So far no has admitted to using one but I am keeping my eyes open. I carelessly broke mine a month or so ago, forgetting that it was connected to a rubber hose; fortunately there was enough nipple left to secure to the hose again. Next time I may not be as lucky.
I think the potential problem is that the Land Rover radiator is plastic instead of metal where the nipple is located. So this thing may not work. |
