Longgg crankinggg 400E BUT THEN?
So my 92 400E cranks "I think" a long time before it starts hot or cold! Every time its Rer-Rer-Rer-Rer-Vroom, the other day it was -2 here and it would not start in the morning, cranked strong but would not turn over! So after 4 or 5 tries I gave up. But when I came home from work with a can of starting fluid to try it again. I said let me try it once before I spray it with the starting fluid! So I jump in crank it and I get an instant VROOOM fired up instantly. WTF 14 degrees sat all day and fired right up??? I'm confused, new Battery plugs, caps, rotors, coils, fuel pressure reg and fuel filter, and new engine harness! Why would it fire right up after not starting in the morning.:confused::confused:

As a retired Latin professor,
I like that signature line.
Ait Obius Caenobius: "Numen tibi adsit" (NOT "Vis sit tecum" if you have pretenses of being classical.) Dixit Arrius Ille Sordidus: "Perge, ut dies mihi perficiatur." (This one is good for getting the kids to remember how Latin style prefers the passive voice and subordinate clauses rather than coordinates.) |

my car is a 300ce 103 engine.... no spark. |
How hard is it to replace and where is it located (CPS)? Why would this cause all of the long cranks and hard starts and then start right up? I'm very curious although my car starts up fine now after replacing EHA valve.

It could be that the oil pressure relief didn't open allowing the excessive pressure to pump up the lifters enough to hold the valves open. That has been known to happen to 119 engines in very cold weather. The resulting loss of compression would explain the strong sound of the starter in weather that would have any engine laboring to turn over.

Replace my starter today cuz it started to griiiiind, still looooong cranking! Is there a way to test the Crank PS????

Maybe a vacuum leak. Are you sure your caps and rotors are good? Check pin 17 for ignition issues.

My 400E always cranked longer than I thought it should
