Airbag Part Number..can't find in EPC?
Hey everyone,
I pulled a steering wheel from a 87 190E 2.3 at the local junkyard to replace mine..I only grabbed the wheel theres nothing wrong with my airbag. I went to replace the wheel today and my airbag is too small for the wheel. I punched in the airbag number to the EPC..couldnt find it. 140 460 00 68 is laser etched on the back of it. I forgot to take a picture of it but thats most definitely the number. Any ideas? |
What car are you trying to fit the airbag from? Your 93?

yes the bag is from my 93. The wheel was from a 87MY i think. The wheel has 400 on one side of it..indicating 400mm i believe which is standard 190E siize

The wheel changed in 93 to a less rectangular one, the early airbag I believe is the same on 124, 126, and 201.

Yup. I know the late W126s have a smaller wheel then the earlier ones, but the airbag looks the same between them.
If the wheel from your 93 has a 140 part number it probably uses the same airbag as a w140, or late w124. Probably most benz cars till 97 or so. -J |
Interesting. The yard has a 94 E320 I wonder if that wheel and my bag would work...hm.
If that fails..wheelskin perhaps.. |
'94 has a different setup for the contact rings than the '93 and older, although the airbag should fit the '93 wheel.

I'm still baffled by the fact that EPC doesnt have the airbag part number...
