16V Timing Cover
Hi,
I bought the MB sealant from the dealer. I will put a small bead all around the timing cover and hope it doesn't leak. My question is how do I seal the area around the coolant passage where coolant passes from the block to the timing cover? It has a small drain groove all around it. also, is there any particular order to reinstall all of the components that mount on the timing cover such as the water pump, AC brackets etc. Thanks Steif1 |
THAT groove requires an O-RING & will leak if you don't install one.
Part # is 006-997-40-48. |
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The part number you gave me was for the oil seal o-ring on the back of the timing cover. I was referring to how to seal the coolant passage between the timing cover and the engine block. Looks like I can just put a bead of sealant around it and it should work. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Steif1 |
