Leaking gas from engine bay

Hey everyone, so I had a leak in my main fuel hose from tank to pumps on my 91 w124. I ordered the hose, tank strainer and a vent valve (which has been missing since we got the car) Yesterday everything was installed including the vent valve and for the first time the system held enough pressure to make that PSSSS noise when you remove the filler cap, no leaks so I figured we're all fixed.

Well this morning I gave her a wash and I noticed I was smelling gas, so I look down after she was dried and I see gas dripping from the front right wheel well. I pop open the hood and there is gas coming from this yellow connection that looks like it should have a hose connected to it or something. This has never happened before so I think this has something to do with the vent valve. I also noticed a bubbling noise coming from the fuel tank  Maybe I put the vent valve on wrong? Is that yellow thing missing something????

That yellow connector is leaking gas...What is it??? What is it for???

Okay so I figured out I had put the fuel supply line and tank vent valve line backwards... Swapped and now my question is...on the vent valve, the new one I purchased has three openings, two big ones and one small one the bottom. Do the hoses connect to the big ones or do they connect to one big and one small?

Not sure on your other issues, however the should NOT be a PSSSS sound when you take off the fuel tank cap.

Really? Know if the diesels are different? Mine makes a PSSSSSSST almost every time I would remove the cap to fill it.

x2, there is positive pressure in the tank in both my diesels and 300E. Most cars require a certain amount of pressure (say, 5 psi) before the valve opens and vents. A bigger problem is if the tank sucks in a ton of air, in which case the intake vent valve is stuck closed, the spent fuel creates a suction in the tank and can potentially collapse the tank on a long trip
