2001 E200 kompressor supercharger problem..

Just got this e-mail from an owner located in Fiji.
Any suggestions?

Hi whunter

My supercharger is making a sorta grunty whining noise, seem to be getting progressively worse over the past couple of months.

The local Mercedes dealer is a franchise, the mechanics have minimal training , and just start replacing items till they find the problem = very costly.

Maybe you have a suggestion what the fault could be, and the cost to repair.

Best regards

Frank

Sound like the bearing is going out. Here's a link for some information about replacing the bearing in our SLK's.
