Fuel Pressure Regulator Part Numbers

I was wondering if anyone knew teh difference between the various fuel pressure regulators.

I have one for m103 engines and I tried to use it on a m117 and the car wouldnt stay running. Obviously its the wrong part, but I was wondering what the difference between the m103 and the m117 version FPRs is..

The FPR on my buddys 560SEL, you can feel air/vapor flowing out the back of it (where the nipple is)..its not a liquid coming out. So we swapped the one from the m103 in and no longer had that characteristic but the car woudln't stay running..

Just looking for some info.

Pressure regulation is the difference.

The 1986-91 M117 engines run at 6.2-6.4 bar, and the M103 runs at 5.2-5.6 Bar.

I wasn't able to find the pn for the fpr in the epc so, I couldnt see what other models carried the same fpr. Would a 84 or so 500SEL be a candidate?

Thanks for the info. Good stuff to know.

Pre 1986 cars use a different system that has the regulator in the fuel distributor.

Ah alright so is this a m117 only part of does the m116 share the same?

Yes, 4.2L & 5.6L use the same part.
