Should I lube my doorlock and what with?
Greetings
I take the mechanical doorkey in the ocean with me and then insert it wet to open the drivers door. Should I lube the doorlock and if so what with? Thanks Gary |
I use a teflon lubricant, and I use it on the antenna too.
I wouldn't suggest WD40, its mostly a solvent, but it may work with ocean water. WD stands for water displacing. You should use OWD40, ocean water displacing:D |
...or SWD40 for "seawater displacing".
Unless you have an ML, in which case you need AWD40!!!:p |
Powered graphite is the best stuff to use for this application.

Thanks all
I'll have a look for the Powdered Graphite today. Is it available in some kind of spray form where I just put in the keyhole? Gary |
I did not pick up on the fact that you are in Japan. I don't know what kind of car parts discount shop they have there. Look for one - one this side of the ocean you can find this at places like Advance Auto Parts, etc.. I don't know if you have WalMarts but they may have it.
