W123 230TE - floppy rear door !

need some help here guys - rear hatch on my TE is not holding itself up when opened. is there some sort of spring or damper that needs sorting.

all answers gratefully recieved

There are two struts one on each side up under a panel in the headliner use a stick to hold the hatch open while replacing the struts

It's a delightful pain in the rear to replace the struts but thats whats wrong
