CEL on - where's the OBD II connector?
 

The CEL came on in my 2006 C230 Sport recently. There's absolutely no change in performance or fuel mileage that I can detect but I'd like to check it out. Can anyone tell me where the OBD II connector is located? I looked under the dash but didn't see anything obvious. Any suggestions on a good, inexpensive OBD II reader that can read and reset the codes?

On my 2001 SLK, it's under the dash on the left hand side. It has a black plastic cover that you have to open.
