Re wiring my Wagon (fun task) and this wire and it's connector.. are a mystery. wondering what it is, what it's for etc, Also for wits n giggles, This is what someone did to the head end of the harness... Not my doing
1994 E320 Wagon non 4matic non ASR etc |
Appears to be a cam/crank /wheel speed sensor coaxial plug.
What is the Bosch number? |
Well it's in the battery area, near a 2 pronged connector. none of the wiring harness I've seen actually have this plug on it and it's wreaking havoc on trying to find a replacement
|
Hmmm looks just like one on my '89 230TE, plugs into a socket on the wall of the engine compartment, next to the round diagnostic port?
No idea what it is but will be interested to find out! Something to do with the ABS rings a bell? |
no, It's loose, one connection goes to the ECH (engine control Harness) and the other part of it goes to the left hand side of then engine in the back towards the firewall and terminates somewhere in the lower region. not sure where.

The connector should be in there.

I'm doing the exact same job. I'm having to replace both the engine harness, and the dash harness in a 1994 e320 wagon.
Here's a photo I took. Sorry it was nighttime, so the quality isn't very good. I'll try to take a better one tomorrow when I get home from work. I have a few connections under the dash and one under the intake I'm trying to figure out. Could you take a few photos for me? Thanks, Dean |
Should be the crank sensor connector, given its location.

In the photo posted by 92-2.6 you can see that connector to the right lying next to the battery terminal connected to something.

Sorry the other photo was so bad

Yes it is near the battery and connects to a wire that comes across the back of the firewall from down under the intake somewhere. The other end comes off your engine harness.
Maybe this photo is clearer. |
