fan pulley spacer 103

Can someone tell me if the round metal spacer goes on the outside of the fan pulley or on the inside between the pulley and the fan bearing.

the exploded view shows it on the outside...but i swore someone said it belonged on the inside as a spacer.

I remember having the same dilemma. It goes on the inside IIRC. It wouldn't be a spacer if you put it on the outside.

i agree.... i think the factory service diagram is wrong..

that's not the main issue now....it's a wobbly harmonic balancer as you will see from the other post.

I just went out and looked and I'm pretty sure its on the outside. I think it's purpose is to spread the load between those 4 tiny 10mm bolts, rather than space the pulley.

John
Is this spacer integral with the pulley, spacing it about 5 mm from the alternator body?

It goes on the outside - the pulley is an aluminum pulley and the ring/disc is steel and in essence it acts as a washer to distribute the load and prevents damage to the pulley.

Yes...outside. Mine and my daughters were on the outside when we replaced water pumps.
