Plastic Electronics Cover behind Battery Fitment!
 

Can someone tell me how that Freakin' cover electronics cover behind the battery goes in. I've had itout a while and it is driving me crazy trying to figure out how it fits!!

The two half-cylindrical protrusions at the bottom go behind the battery tray, the upper part fits behind the hood weatherstrip

I just can't get the thing to go in properly. The ECU is in the way. I've had it out forever and just recently did the blower regulator and decided to put it back in.

perhaps look at another car to see the proper way..

I've looked around, but don't have access to one unfortunately.

My '94 W124 probably has the same thing. I just shoved it back into place and it popped in.

I know! It seems like it should be so simple!

Dude...it is so simple! But, if you are trying to put it in wrong, it's like a Rubik's cube! I made myself mad one night trying to refit it! The straight edge should slide down between the battery and module that is right behind it. Then, the lip goes down and tucks up behind the overhang on the top. Look at it and process it...you can do it.

I can relate to this experience the first time I removed mine. Felt really dumb. Not sure how it took me so many tries to figure it out. Same thing happened with the front plastic cover for the plug wires. Sometimes the simplest parts of a project will kick your arse just to remind you who's the boss. :D:D

It's been off two years.

I always remembered it was a pain in the ass to get out.

I fooled around with it for about 45 minutes today.

I pulled the top end and rebuilt it, replaced the Blower, and the blower regulator, rebuilt the seats, recovered the seats, put in a new sound system, and fixed the seat motor shafts and put a shift kit in the transmission and I can't get this freakin' trim to go on!

I'll look at it again tomorrow...

Les. There are only two ways it can go. You do have to bend it to get it to "tuck up & in". Easiest way to figure orientation; there is a small spout on the trim that goes into a drain hose.

That's not the trim I'm working on. It's the simple piece that flaps around behind the battery. I think you are talking about the piece that bolts the section under the windshield on that side, is that right?

I'm talking about the simplest piece of trim on the car!

What happens is when I slip it behind the battery, it runs up against the ECU behind the battery and can't go into place.

Les, I forgot that they updated the style of the plastic trim that goes behind the battery on the later cars (90up). They are so rudimentary on the early cars, I don't see them on 9/10 early W124's.

Heh! For the last two years you haven't seen it on mine either!
