Great find!

Your going to want to change all the fluids an filters since they are so old, transmission, rear end, coolant, power steering, air filters for both the engine and climate control, etc.

If the tires are original they are also shot, replace them regardless of how good they look. 16 year old tires are a blow out waiting to happen.

Check the battery too, if they managed to limp the original one along its done too.

I recently purchased a 1995 S320

I love the car, 108kmi on it, one owner (doctor) wealthy area, $3800.
Had/has a couple issues. Sunroof gets stuck going back, the common insulation liner in the tracks. Seller thought the AC was not working, but it works just fine. Needs shocks all around, I found a brand new set of OEM installed in a car at my dismantlers yard. Gas tank had a pin hole, looks like he threw his golf clubs in the trunk after a bad day. Once again my dismantler had several, one which was recently replaced, still had it's dealer tag on it.

Best thing I have done to it is change out the rear differential !!!
The older 300S had a bigger diff. just like the 8cyl. cars. Those were 3.69 ratio. For some reason Benz put in the same size diff as the W210's with a 6cyl. into the S320. When they changed the diff. they went to a 3.45 gear ratio which stinks in this 4500lb. car. Even on the highway when the road has a long steady incline you could feel the load BAD. I got a Diff. out of a Sl320 which is the same size in a 3.67 gear ratio, the car feels great now, I think economy actually went up due to the reduced load on the motor.

Good luck with yours, These are great cars!!
I also have a 96 E300 which I turboed.

One more thing, The 16" wheels are horrible. Mine came with the stock common ten holes, and Mich. tires which were like new. The car rolled like a boat in a storm. I wanted to keep the soft ride so I went 17" with 235-55-17. BIG improvement in making the car not feel like I'm driving a waterbed down the block.

Believe it or not, it's actually here. My dad picked it up last night, and I "met" it today. It's really gorgeous ... a few swirls marks, a couple buffable scratches on the cladding, but it's basically immaculate. All I can offer tonight is a couple lousy cellphone pics, because I got a surprise call into work as I was washing it. I have two more I'll post when I'm done work, and hopefully tomorrow I'll detail the interior and do some REAL pictures. But here's proof it exists:

The bad news ... it stalls after about a minute of running. I will explain in detail later, but we think it's the fuel filter or other fuel problem (some of my facebook friends have suggested rust in tank).

Two other Droid pictures:

I still need to detail the interior, the seats and the armrest do have some light smudges, but pretty much zero wear that I can see.

I had to laugh, my dad is so excited about this car, earlier today as I was washing it, he suggested that we should buy a few more older Mercedes. Great idea, Dad! I can see where I got the bug ...

I heard the engine wiring harness goes bad because of age,not miles.
Other wise strong little 6 cylinder, can be modded for 350 wheel horsepower.Or update pistons and crank for 750 hp.

The gas in the tank is probably done. Modern gas lasts about a month before it separates and its done.

Nice car though, what a time capsule!

Going to try attaching a few ... hopefully they're large enough. Admittedly it's not in a very scenic setting. When it's up and running right I'll do some shots somewhere nicer and hopefully have the freedom to get some better angles and lighting.
