W202 Service won't reset! Ahhhhhhhhhh....
I have reset the service interval many times over the last 7 years, but it won't reset this time. I may have had the same problem last time also, since it is now "-5200". Is it still possible to reset it even thoughit went over the "interval"? I tried about 10 times and nothing. Sometimes it would give a beep like the completion beep but it still displays "-5200".

Close the driver door.

I have the same problem with my w140 and my door is always closed because of that anoying buzzer.

The first 5 times I tried were with the door closed. Then I tried with the door open. Then I tried again with the door closed. No difference.

The little button may have gone bad, and isn't being recognized when pressed. Last one I saw with that problem would reset with the SDS.

If it helps at all, I've never heard of there being any problem with a reset just because you are way over on mileage or time; it should reset just as before. I don't know what else to add, you seem to have reset the FSS many times before so it's hard to believe you are doing it wrong, so I would also guess a bad cluster.
Yes the door should be closed. Hey unless there is a problem with the drivers door jamb switch. Do you have the dome light switch set so it comes on when the door is open? If you have the switch set to "off", then the door jamb switch could be bad and you might not know it. Gilly |
Door switch working fine, turns lights on and off. Tried to reset again today, door closed. No luck. Now at -5500....
Help someone!!! I must find a way to reset without paying the dealer a fortune. |
Try unhooking the battery for half an hour or so. Its a shot in the dark, but it might do something to make the button register. Also try putting a little sideways pressure on the button while pressing it if you can. Outside of replacing the cluster......IDK

I ordered the "38 pin reset tool" from Ebay. Worked like a charm. God bless China!
