Question Engine Code B1040 / 1042 / 1470 / 1755

Hi
I have a 98 CLK320 with 4 B Codes "1040, 1042, 1470, 1755," and my Database on MB as well as BMW is somewhat restricted on info.
I also have a 94 BMW 540i with a Transmission Code "153CAN: Engine Load System"

Where could I get more Data for MB and BMW computer data? Most of the newer models aren't covered under MOD or Alldata.

What computer did you get those codes from?
Check engine codes from the ME fuel system start with "P".

98 CLK320 codes

As Donnie says, they start with P if it was read by an MB scanner.

I have the complete codes for your car and if you want them send me an email (not from the M Shop Forum), so I may email the document back to you.

B codes would be for body codes. As Doc said you will need to know the module to find the code meaning in the Diagnostic Manual. The diagnostic manual is available in print and comes with the WIS. Alldata usually does a pretty good job of copying the MB DM. They probably don't cover all the body modules.

Alldata will do a poorer job on the BMW as there is no print DM for late BMWs; it is part of their DIS or MODIC. BMW does sell some rather inexpensive CDs (from auto technical info standards). They sell a CD called Technical training that covers most BMW systems and codes. Their info can be purchased through their agent: Central Letter Shop in NJ, 1-800-695-0079.
