Filter question
Since my trusted local source for info in not available today I have a question for the MB parts knowledgable ones here on the forum. Found this oil filter on my shelf, #A 102 184 05 01. I have a '93 300E with the 104 double overhead cam engine. Is this the MB filter for it? Dennis

a google search of the part number says it goes on an 89-91 *(or other years) SE
it may work on other motors also, it did not say. |
i believe m104 filters are not spin on type, so it will not work.
|
vstech, I did a search and saw conflicting info between M103 and M104 engines.
John5788, this filter is a spin on and the one on the car now is a spin on. I don't want too get into the oil change/filter effort and find it's not the right one, thus the subject of the post. Dennis |
The M104 filter is not spin-on. It should take the replaceable cartridge type filter.

Mystery solved as JohnM said. Got the right filter and the oil/filter change is done. :)
John5788 I really goofed when looking at the filter on the car. I just didn't look CLOSE enough. Being an inverted filter the visible end with the notches looked like a spin on. Thanks guys, :) Dennis |
