coolant bleeder valve for 300E

Greetings All,

I'll be doing a flush and change on my car's cooling system soon.
I've located both drain valves (block and rad). But I need to
locate the coolant bleeder valve to release any trapped air
in the cooling system. Can anyone tell me where it is located
on a 1988 300E (103 engine)?

I attempted a search on the subject, but could not find
the info I needed.

Thank you in advance,

bluebenz

Replace cap

the plastic thermostat cover on my 86 300e was leaking. When I replaced it with an aluminum cover, it had a bolt on top that is used as a bleeder valve. While I was replacing the cover, i replaced the thermostat at the same time.

On the head at the level of the valve cover gasket to the right of the oil filler cap as viewed from the front (gasp for air) there are a couple of bolt heads(13mm or 15mm socket). Remove one of these bolts and fill through the reservoir until coolant comes out. The manual says to open the front bolt, but it sure looks like they lead to the same chamber.

i've seen a post from Don where he mentions using the Prestone flushing tee. i've used this in the past on other cars and i found it to be pretty effective. has anyone used these on MB's - i'd like to avoid having to get at that block drain plug which on my car is way under there...

I have never used the Prestone flushing tee. However, intuitively,
I do not see a problem using that device if it makes your task
easier.

Special thanks to Sixto and Craig for the info.
