Found naked nipple under w/w reservoir...
1996 c280 sport,
I've searched these archives and not found an answer. I removed the windshield washer reservoir and found a switch with an electrical connector. One vacuum line on the suction end is connected but there is a naked nipple that sticks straight up at that end also. The connection at the other end goes to the intake manifold. My question is what is suppose to be connected to that naked nipple? and is this throwing a code p0441 CEL? There are no disconnected vac lines readily apparent in the area. Thanks.

A picture would help.
The switch on the washer tank would be for the light on the dash for low washer solvent. There should be no hose from the washer tank to the intake manifold. There is often a spare nipple or plugged hole on vehicles without headlight washers, they will use the same style tank with or without the headlight washers, and just block off where the second washer pump would go. So no real idea why the washer tank seems connected to the intake.

Thanks
for posting Gilly,
The switch is not attached to the w/w reservoir. It is nder the tank and attached to the fender. It has an electrical connection and is accessible when tank is removed. I traced the vac lines and one goes to the purge valve and one to the intake manifold. The w/w works fine.

Can you post a picture of it? Is there any part number on it?

here is pic of "naked vac nipple". The first pic show the nipple sticking up at a 90 degree angle at the aft end of switch.

Looks like a switchover valve. I'd assume the one going to the intake is for vacuum source, can you trace the other vacuum line. Assuming air injection s/o or egr s/o

The one going to the intake side connects to a black rubber "Y" union that connects to the forward end of the purge valve and a steel line that disappears under the driver side fender area,( I'm assuming the charcoal cannister).
The other line goes to the manifold. I put a piece of electrical tape over the naked nipple on the intake side and reset the CEL.

and....
CEL back on code P0441. The purge valve works once the engine is at temp and the black lines to and from the valve are connected.
