Jumped Klima Burned Clutch

I have No AC in my 87 260E. Bought it last year and have not needed it yet. The compressor would only run for a few seconds and then stop so I jumped pins 5&7 and the compressor engaged and ran. I had gauges on it and it showed 35 lbs on the low side while running (60 static). It was not making cold air and then I smelled the clutch overheating. The compressor looks newer.

Any ideas beside new compressor?

Thanks

Charlie

Thumbs up

What was your high side pressure? Ambient air temps when testing?

Kicking on for a bit, then off is a sure sign the system is low or overcharged.
