'94 E320 SLS feels funny
My '94 E320 with SLS felt wobbly in the rear (no worn bushings), dampers was checked for leaks but none were found so accumulators (the bombs) where replaced; genuine Febi items.
The car doesn't feel wobbly anymore, however it feels like it has a new damper on the right side but it feelsl like it has a damper that has covered about 200 000 miles on the left. Could this be only air in the system? I have put in about two litres of new oil - the correct type of oil. |
If it is air bubbles it should work itself out.
Why are you having to add so much fluid? Did someone fix a leak? Are you continuously losing it? |
I added about 0.5 litres once. I haven't lost any more fluid as far as I can see :)
Will it help to drive the car laden? |
Doesn't sound like you have a leak.
Run it for a few days to see if it works itself out. It may need adjusting out if not. |
Have you put weight in the back or had 2 big guys sit in the back?
|
I loaded the car up with about 40 gallons of soil (in bags of course) and four 215/60-15 tires on rims and took it four a spin. After that I had to refill about 0,5 litres of oil
I've also tried to put three persons in the car (two in the back seat, one in the luggage compartment), a total of about 250 kg / 550 lbs. The car sat lower, but didn't rise again when I started it. |
When I replaced the accumulators on my 560SEL I disconnected the SLS linkage at the rear and manually cycled the system up/down a few times to help purge any air from the system. After the cycling I topped off the reservoir and had no further issues.
