AC R134a recharge question for 16v

I have a 1986 Mercedes 190e 2.3-16v and the air conditioning has been converted over to R134a. I want to evacuate the system and replace a couple components and refill the system. Can any one tell me how much refrigerant to put back in to the system? I am looking for a number of pounds or grams of R134a to put back in the ac system. I was thinking it was about 2 pounds but I have forgotten.

This site says 30oz. for the old R12 system. Don't know if this changes significantly after you switch to R134.

LESS r134 is more

Add about 80% LESS r134 than the factory R12 specification.

Figure about 70-75% of original fill, and that should have been 1Kg...2.2lbs

Operating pressures for R-134a

Got the AC system evacuated and refilled with 75% of the 2.2lbs that was called for for R-12. I have cold air again, but not great. Anyone know what the operating and static pressures for the low and high sides should be with the R-134A in it?

Thanks for the help so far guys!

If you're replacing parts it might be best to flush and refill with R12. The cost for R12 is coming more and more in line with R134a.

Most common issue on the W201 chassis is the fresh air door staying OPEN.
Needs to close to have COLD a/c.
