Where is bolt for adjusting reverse band, 93 190E trans?
 

The wife's 190E will no longer move when in reverse and if on a slight upgrade.
Where is the nut that needs to be adjusted? I suppose the procedure is loosen lock nut and then turn square bolt 1/4 turn at a time and then test. If so where is the reverse bolt located?

There is no adjustment bolt. You will need to remove transmission completely and replace B3 bands and possibly the associated piston.

Third opinion. The 722.3 has no adjustment unlike the 722.1

Does that number refer to the car or the transmission?

To get the transmission out will cost you more than the parts you need to replace...the parts are relatively inexpensive.

Can I raise the car and set it on cement blocks and then use a floor jack to remove the transmission?

Yes you can. Check out ps2cho's website w124-zone.com (you'll have to register). He has DIY pics on taking out the tranny and replacing the friction discs. It's not very big but is heavy (80-100 lbs). I had my engine replaced so I had the shop do it when it was out and they said it was easy as far as connections. Ended up just being those discs for my reverse. Tranny is solid now (200K)! Make sure you take out the dipstick tube first!

I did my b3 bands as preventative, and did it all on my back with the car on ramps. Do yourself a favor though and buy a cheap transmission jack. It'll make your life 100x easier for the small price.

How much do you value your life? NEVER use cement blocks for such a task.

Have you ever hit a block with a hammer and seen it crumble? Doesn't take much. A single block in compression is not made to support the weight of a car.

Buy sturdy ramps (preferably steel)
