Orthopedic seat repair?
Anyone know anything about it? This seems to have been a pretty rare option, I haven't seen any info on the orthopedic inflation/control system. Mine sort of worked when I first got the car, but now doesn't work at all. I suspect there's a vacuum line leak somewhere, but I don't want to just go poking around with no idea what I'm doing.

They are "balloons" that get pumped up by the central locking pump. It's detailed fairly well in the service manual.

if the entire list of vacuum compliant accessories have failed, then the finger
points to the PSE pump or associated fuse if only a (or a few) accessories have failed, check the hose/connectors if only 1-2 bladders in the seat have failed, check bladder and bladder switch unit

Its a little different between W126 and other cars, but from a W126 perspective Raymond is spot on.
-I assume your pump is functional if your Central Locking is working. -Your options are to check the connections of the vacuum lines for any disconnections; might want to replace the rubber fittings at this point anyways. -If those look good, my bet lies with the ortho seat controls. They're fully mechanical and I have no idea how much a new set would cost from the dealer, but my retrofitted bladders are vac tested as working (still haven't wired the pump in) so I don't know how often those are known to have failed. Good luck!

Pump is functional. When I press any of the controls on the control box, it tries to pump the bladders up, but they collapse right away with air hissing out near the control box.

Check if the big vac connector that all the lines go into is in all the way; if not, sounds like you need a new control unit.
