190E 2.3 "Bumps Into Starting"
 

Hello Everyone,

I recently inherited a 1988 190E 2.3 with 58,000 miles. As a W123 diesel owner I am still learning about the M102. I plan to review everything and replace the obvious ignition parts, filters, etc. One question. The car idles slightly rough but my main concern is how it "bumps" on after starting. As soon as the starter finishes there is a bump/extra rough spot then to a slightly rough idle. No stalling/shaking. Drives fine and accelerates quickly. Ignition control unit? Rotor/distributor? Of course doing the basic maintenance will help weed out the possibilities but I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this symptom. Thanks
