W202 shocks
Looks like I can get:
Bilstein Monroe KYB Gabriel Sachs I don't have the sport model, just want standard shocks. I saw a Bilstein touring B6 for the front. Only saw "heavy duty" for the rear. Did not see any "comfort" offered. KYB are "gas adjust". Looking for anyone who bought from this list and has any feedback on how they ride. |
Bilsteins are the only way to go, though on some occasions I'd be ok with Sachs. The others are just shocks that "fit" the car, not necessarily tuned to the car's specific needs.

Bilsteins all the way. :)

I did HDs all around on my 97 c230. It was more firm for sure, but even on 17s was tolerable and even enjoyable

Well, maybe I will consider the Sachs.
Next question, "while I am there" what else should I be looking at doing? I hear a lot about "dog bones". Are those easy to inspect? I don't have any looseness that I can detect while driving. I have heard a lot about lower control arm bushings. The only odd symptom I have is on prolonged significant braking I will get a pretty loud groan at the end. I would assume it is brakes but it doesn't sound like brakes. I am thinking maybe front shocks since the long braking causes the front to compress. |
