fuel feed and return line at the fuel distributor on a 1991 560sel
 

Both appear to be dry rotted and one cracked today and dumped fuel. Replacement lines cost about $300 for the pair. Can I just replace the rubber and use fuel line hose clamps?

At approximately 90PSI on the feed line I don't think any regular fuel line is up to the task. Best order the correct lines before you end up with a ball of flames poking from under the hood.

Well, I do plan to use hoses rated for fuel injection :)

Keep in mind that most fuel injection systems run half of that 90 PSI. Unless you can get hose specificly rated for CIS pressures I wouldn't do it. I also wouldn't trust a hose clamp to hold that pressure, there's a reason that the OE hose has crimp fittings.

Return line is OK, feed line....risky.

Other option is find a hydraulic hose shop local that that can press new hoses on for you. Definitely would be much, much cheaper.

hose clamps and kjet don't get along, too much pressure. there's a reason it's a plastic line, steel line or a very thick wall rubber hose. 90 psi will vaporize real fast through a leak. good luck, chuck.

This is on my to-do list as well. Mine are pretty "spooky" looking. I plan on replacing when I do a complete intake reseal in the next few weeks. I have the part numbers for the sec but no pricing as of yet. Al where did you price them?

John, the feed line is sold on fast lane.

So I bit the bullet and bought these two hoses. Once I remove the old ones, I'll take them to a hydraulic shop and have them rebuilt as I suspect that my 560SEC will need them soon enough.

The heat seems to be eating up all rubber parts and killing batteries.
