Hi Guys!

I am working on a overhaul of my tranny 722.323 from a mercedes 560 sel. Shifting was good / smooth but there was no kickdown, leakage and some white stuff in the oil. so I thought give it a complete overhaul+cleaning.
I do have the ATSG and Transtec manual but when I removed the valve body I noticed two difference.

1) The valve body seperated from the tranny housing and put it carefully on a clean desk. Nothing dropped out or left on the housing.
They are asking to remove the "drain valve LB3" (nr. 86 in ATSG manual) or nr 1 pressure release valve in transtec manual, and attached as jpg. but this one is missing! Is this normal or maybe serial number related??

2) when seperating the valve body I noticed that ATSG is telling me the location of the "pressure valve nr. 14a". In the Transtec manual it is mentioned as "nr. 6" with a spring. But on this exact location there is only a ball installed without a spring. And just below of the location "14a" @ ATSG or Transtec picture with pirple "?" ; is showing another ball, which I don't have....There isn't also any room for another ball...

Can anyone help me with this one?
I am 300% sure nothing lost or dropped out...I worked on a very clean table with only this stuff.

The manual you are working from is generic = it covers more than ten years of the 722.xxx transmission.

You have a 722.323
Don't allow the book to confuse you.

Clean everything in the valve body, replace the seals and gaskets, lubricate it with fresh transmission fluid..

Submerge the valve body over night in a pan of fresh transmission fluid.

Replace the Bowden cable if damaged MB# 1263002930, and re-install the valve body.

I have attached a picture of the available valve body parts.

Thanks for your quick response. Glad to hear, your pic shows seperated valve bodys thanks. to be sure I understand this correctly; the upper valve body (the horizontal plate): when a dot is shown, is that because it must be installed on top of the body? and when no dot is shown underneath?

874 & 875 with line no dot: installed underneath in body
666 with line and dot: on top of body
(but doesn't make sense compared to 681)

Or is it just as you pic shows, parts above = above and parts underneath = underneath.

Sorry for my strange questions

Why do I need to replace the bowden cable?

p.s. I am replacing all the clutches, all sealings, changing to superiour shiftkit, replace radiator, new TV plunjer, clean everything. Is there anything else you advise to replace?

The attached picture should make it clear.

If there is any damage to the Bowden cable = this is when it can be done with least time and effort..

The B2 piston should be replaced if it is not the latest revision level.

I think kickdowncable is ok. But to make sure, how can you discover any failures?

I want to soak my body valves into fluid overnight...What kind of fluid can I use e.g. refined petrol? (That's what I have in stock)
