86 300E - Need info on Blower fuse retrofit

Hi there,

As I understand it, there was a silent recall which added a 30 amp strap fuse to the exterior of the fuse panel, replacing the OE 20 amp #12 fuse. This was never done on my car, and as a result the #12 fuse is melting in my fuse panel. (The fuse isn't blowing, but the panel and fuse itself are both literally melting.)

So, I should probably take care of this sooner rather than later. Anyone have a parts list and maybe a quick tutorial on how to DIY the addition of this strap fuse?

Get a new fuse and the plastic harness/case it fits into that is screwed onto the inner fender from the dealer...they're quite cheap.

The r/r will be very obvious. I did it in minutes and that means it's easy.

or get a standard blade fuse holder and 30A green blade fuse (from autozone etc) and remove/reroute the wires from the fuse box to this external fuse.

The green 30A blade fuse is cheap as chips and is available everywhere, unlike the slowblow 30A strip.
