mercedes 450 sel 6.9 starter motor

Because of the difficulty of sourcing a starter motor for my 6.9, no wrecker in nsw seems to have one. Is it possible to use a starter motor from any other model mercedes that will fit and replace original unit, or does the 6.9 use specific starter which only fits this model

that's the problem with white elephants, you can't find anything else like them. a 6.9 car has lotsa 6.9 only stuff on it, including the starter. needs a 002 151 76 01. maybe get yours rebuilt? good luck, chuck.

Sorry, nothing to add here but I am wondering how much these 6.9 cars are worth? I have a chance to pick one up cheap but the engine is out due to a bent rod (fuel hydrolocked). I can get the whole car for about $500. Looks like it is all there but has been sitting outside for some years, has a title and looks to be a Euro version, not sure if they were all Euro's.

I would buy it myself if I didn't have so many projects.

how much is a 450 sel 6.9 worth

i noticed on the internet in australia that 6.9s are selling if in reasonably good condition approximately 20,000 dollars. I think the reason being that only just over 7000 were produced worldwide. If you can buy one in good condition which is mechanically sound they are tyre shredding monsters with huge torque. Obviously they were not built for good fuel economy. If the pneumatic suspension is in good working order the ride quality of this vehicle is probably the best in the world. The 6.9 is a exceptional vehicle and probably becoming quite scarce by now and thats why the value of this vehicle is climbing.

If you want ride quality, get a Citroen DS21, which is easily available for 20,000, Mercedes licensed their technology (along with Rolls-Royce and Bentley).
