left headlight dead, right fog light dead on w202

2000 c230 kompressor sport

I cant re call if both went out at once, but I have an odd situation where one head light doesn't work, and then on the other side, one fog light doesn't work. currently I have to drive with fog lamps on, in order to have 2 lights facing forward.

I have checked fuses, and the bulbs are not burnt out. I re seated the head lamp plugs, and also re seated the bulbs.

I am wondering if this one dead, one working, vice versa is some type of indication of a symptom.

if not..what can I do to fix it? I was thinking of just jumping\running a 2nd wire from one side to the other. but I noticed fogs share 1 fuse, head lamps have one for each left and right. maybe a conflict their with the head lights.

2nd, I can trace the wire for problem? I have only heard about this but never have done it, but now would be a great time to learn as I have a project at hand with MS2, m104 in a w201.

thanks in advance =D
