Compression test is done cold. I think you are looking for around 140 psi and no big differences between cylinders.

DieselJim, you may not necessarily need a new water pump unless it's obviously damaged. If the compression test results are satisfactory replace the radiator and thermostat and carefully monitor the water temperature gauge when you drive. Typically, white exhaust is the sign of a failed head gasket so you may have avoided that problem.

You didn't describe the radiator failure. Did the upper radiator hose connector break off? That's a common failure with older radiators when the plastic becomes brittle. Recommend a new Behr radiator.

One of the techs around here posted that the m104 head gasket is pretty robust with respect to overheating. Go figure, since it fails on its own.

If ia quick start and run doesn't make funny noises or smoke or other signs of damage, I'd suggest replacing the failed radiator, hoses, etc. and driving it. Don't forget to change the oil too - it got cooked but good.

well the plastic radiator is the weakest link so it is the failure point.

Yeah. My mobil 1 looked nice and cooked but didn't look like any water in the oil. I'm going to do the compression test. Change out the plugs and see what happens.

What is the service interval on the water pump? It has been overheating. I worked on changing the fan clutch but it is still running wamr.

It doesn't appear to be broken off but the upper radiator hose coupling is where the failure happened. I suspect it will break off when I pull it out.

If it survived I would credit the synthetic oil.

I was thinking the exact same thing. If it was smoking black I suspect if you had had the other oil in there the engine would not crank because of the "relaxed" rings/low compression.

Cylinder 1,2,4 tested between 175-185 PSI

Cylinder 3 tested 100PSI

So I aborted. At this point the best thing to do is sell it

How much do you want for it? How many miles are on it? How many miles are on the transmission?

kennesaw is about a 3 hour drive to Soperton. Not a bad distance to tow a car.

I have about made up my mind to set up some extra ones for "spares". Especially now that I have learned all about the "immobilizer" systems on the new ones.

157862 Miles. Its the original transmission as far as I know. Im working on the price. I am open to reasonable suggestions. I'm going to work on cleaning up the interior. Need money to pay the sales tax on the mini-van I'm going to try to purchase.

DieselJim, too bad cylinder #3 tested so low. I was hoping you got lucky and avoided major engine damage.

What color combination is your 1995 E320? Best to post some pictures if you plan to sell it as-is.

Its white exterior, light blue interior. I'm going to clean it up and post some pictures.

I suspect that maybe one cylinder was questionable already. Noticed a hesitation at times but 100PSI is way too low.
