catalytic converter on 1989 300sel

How can I find out if my cat is bad/going bad? Options if it is...Live in wonderful california!

Well these cats last a long, long time. Mine has nearly 300k and works just fine.

What issues are you exhibiting?

I am getting ready for calif smog and it just sounds funny...a guy told me the cat could be causing it,,, so I am just looking into the possibility of cause. They say over time the little holes get blocked...
