Temporary fuel feed question

I want to see if in-tank fuel strainer is causing fuel delivery issue, without pulling it out to check.I tried pulling it, don't have right tools. Before I buy tools I would like to bypass this strainer to see if it is my problem. What is the easiest/safest way to do this?

No smoking,or sparks around.Disconnect line from tank,plug tank.dip line in gasoline and test.
