w140 m104 no turning of engine
My s320 just this morning decided not to start(I hear the click).
I tried jumping her it does not work.Tried to start in neutral, don't work. I had tires installed yesterday, but no one under car. What should I check for. |
I would check battery.....voltage >12v is good, alternator ~14v (13.8-14.5) is good. Then I would move to a little complicated systems like check the crankshaft position sensor. Ooh and check your engine wire harness if it is not brittle if your is more than 15 years old
Good luck |
This is a 1999 s320,I checked keys too.
|
Click without turning despite jumping sounds like a starter. Have someone hold the key in "start" while you give the starter a few "love taps" with a broom handle.

Found the Problem
After charging battery 4 hours and no change in charge level.I popped open maint free caps and found one cell low on water.Refilled it and wham she started.
|
Does this car have a low voltage lockout on the starter??
|
probably does to pervent burning out the starter. In all my 30 plus years of experince,I've never seen this.
