Help Please: '87 260E Dash Lights Out
Hi All:
I just got off on a speeding ticket about 30 minutes ago. The officer was sympathetic to my situation. I just had my instrument lights and climate control lights go out on me tonight. Very difficult to gauge speed with out any lights. Checked the fuse box and all the fuses are intact. The license plate illuminator is on that circuit too and it still functions so that leads me to think that the circuit still works. At that point, I have no clue what to look for next. Could someone be kind enough and assist me to find the solution to this situation. Thank you in advance. Aloha, Eric |
All of the dash lamps go thru the dash lamp rheostat, also depending on the production date there is a "red" fuse holder on the instrument cluster that protects it from a short circuit.

Hi M.B. Doc:
Thank you very much for the information. I will check and I will let you know how it goes. Aloha, Eric |
Thanks to M.B. Doc!
You hit the problem dead on. The rheostat was fried and I replaced it and everything back to normal. I am a very happy camper once again. Thank You once again. Aloha, Eric |
