This is great news Wayne....I also own a Porsche 996...and I am a regular visitor to the Pelican website (as a matter of fact, I bought my 996 from another member on the Pelican site). I am still waiting for the 101 projects book for the Porsche 996!!

Increase the size allowed for attachments suggestion

Please consider increasing the allowed size of attachments, especially pdf files. I'll answer a question here, but send the OP over to benzworld dot org, because they allow reasonably sized attachments that this site does not.

We're going to deploy the image uploader that we use on Pelican - it's easier on the database and a bit easier to use and link to...

Wow, I have never purchased from Pelican however my 911 has been mothballed for about 8 years while I got into the Benz'. Maybe this will light a fire under me to unwrap the 911 and put her back together.

Now they are TAX collectors

NOTHING said up front. I WASTED 20 minutes compiling a 300 dollar orderonly to find 36 bucks tacked on for "tax". If I had know UPFRONT I would not have wasted my time. THEN they "moved" my post to a place I cannot find. Sheesh.

I replied in the other thread that you started:

Unfortunately, since we are a company located in California, Peach Parts is now a company located in California and is required by the law to collect California sales tax. Unfortunately, that is the law, and we are required to abide by California state laws. If you give Phil a call on the toll-free number, I can authorize him to give you a discount on the parts equal to an approximate amount of the tax (still have to technically pay it to Sacramento though).

We have a new catalog coming soon that will offer significant discounts on the parts here (FastLane will be replaced by a new Pelican Parts Mercedes catalog). We've been in this business for about 13 years now and have built a very loyal following in the Porsche & BMW arena. We will be working hard to earn your trust, respect and business in the future.

Thanks for your continued patience and support,

Wayne

so that also goes for the forum itself?
I always thought the forum and fastlane were separate entities that were linked in some way other than direct ownership.

That's correct. Fastlane + PeachParts are the same thing. I'm not sure why the decision was made in the past to market it under a separate brand name, that seems confusing to me. In the very near future, the PeachParts logo at the top will have a Pelican next to it, and it will say something like "a division of Pelican Parts" or something similar to that. The catalog button will link to the new catalog and the new sections of our website with the Mercedes tech articles we're working on.

But for now, it will remain just about the same...

Thanks,

Wayne

I'm new to the MB scene, but have been familiar with Pelican for years. Having gotten about ten false starts on buying various air cooled 911s over the years, Pelican was often where I went for research.

As far as being a place to buy parts from, I have high hopes. I've found there are a number of places that are great to deal with, and have good prices, but often, I can't buy everything I need there. There's some other MB forum on the web, and they have sponsors. The one sponsor I bought an OVP Relay from doesn't sell certain interior bits I've looked for, like headliners for instance. Sure would be nice if I could find a place that had it all under one roof.
