94 C280 Hazard Light Question

My wife came home last night and said that when she puts on the turn signal on for a right hand turn, the hazard light switch starts blinking. I went out to the car to see if I could recreate it and I did. Turn on the turn signal for turning right and the hazard switch blinks. You turn on the turn signal for a left turn and it functions properly. The hazard switch by itself or with the turn signal on both lights blink in unison.

Before I tear into it to determine if it is a relay or switch issue, thought I'd post out to the group to see if anyone has had this issue before and knows the answer.

Thanks!
Brian

Brian- I replaced the combination relay a few months ago to fix an intermittent turn signal on a 96 C280. My combination switch was fairly new so I didn't suspect it. I had searched around this forum first to find some simple tests, which I think involved testing the rear defroster and hazard switches operation, or something like that. I got the relay from Phil for a good price, and it is a quick repair. This relay may be referred to as the combination relay, or maybe even wiper relay, or possibly other names as well, because it controls so many different things.
