722.6 AT - Engine Coolant in Transmission Fluid
2000 ML 430, 115K miles. Vehicle presents with engine coolant present in transmission fluid following replacement of accident-damaged radiator (a "CryoMax" radiator was installed by the repair shop).
Drained and refilled fluid pan and torque converter x3 using the proper 722.6 ATF; fluid on dipstick is currently free of coolant.
Now, when stone cold, transmission will engage reverse and all forward gears and can be driven on or off ramps; laterally tapping the gear selector will change gears, as displayed in instrument cluster (D, 4, 3, 2, 1). However, within one minute of startup, the transmission fails to engage any gears and tapping the gear selector results in no change from the indicated "D".
Would replacement of the electrics kit be the next logical step in attempting to salvage this transmission?
