95 E320 rotor part - wrong?
I replaced the front brakes on my 95 E320 wagon. I was planning to only do pads and have the rotors resurfaced but they were a bit too far worn. So in the interest of completing the job yesterday I bought rotors an O'reilly auto parts. I should have stopped there maybe. They only had 1 part number for rotors on this car. However, I know that there are different parts for these cars for late and early S/N's. Mine is a very late S/N. I now have a rub (very light) and only when the car is being turned fairly sharply.
Does anyone know what the difference is in the early vs. later rotors for the 95 E320 model (again it's a wagon)? I am wondering if I should return these and order the 'right' thing or just run it. Thanks |
On wagons rotors went from 22mm to 25mm at serial number F242722. The change was probably during the 1994 model year so they may be correct in showing only one for 1995, as long as it was the 25mm. Are you sure the rubbing isn't something else? Your hunch on staying away from O'Reillys for brake parts is a good one.

After removal and a closer look, it seems the rotor spacing between the two disks (space where the vents are) is a little narrower than the Brembo's I pulled off. I don't know what my deal is, but I took the rotors back and will go with something from Phil. Was trying to get it back together yesterday but I give up and will just have to get the right stuff. If it still has a rub somewhere we'll look further then. I can't see anything hitting on the outside of the set-up, it almost has to be a caliper/pad/rotor rub from what i can tell.
Thanks for the info on the difference. I couldn't find any details from searching. |
Rotor differance
Hi,
When I got the wrong rotors for my '95 E320 sedan the hole for the small hexhead screw that holds the rotor to the hub before the wheel is on was shifted and would not line up. The rotor also rubbed on the caliper some. I had to get the correct part number too! |
