One more question for anyone who knows. How do you test the fuel pump on a 78 240D?

No seriously, if the engine runs the fuel will be circulated back to the tank.

If the engine does not start, I don't know how to check it.

I think you need to tell us what is going on. Does the engine start?

What is the engine number? i just got a MB diesel diagnostic manual if you give the engine number I'll look to see if they have a procedeure or the specs for it.
