needed....pic of what the coolant should look like
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can post or email me what the coolant should look like. I had the head gasket replaced awhile back and I was just checking things out and when i looked inside...i saw what seemed to be some oily looking thing. I remember from the research about the head gasket problem that one of the symptoms is oil in the coolant tank....wonder how throughly the garage i took it.....did a coolant flush. Thank you, Reny |
I don't have a pic, but MB coolant should be light orange in color. There should be no oily residue in the coolant.

In the DIY
1. On this page go to the D.I.Y. tab on the top of the page.
2. Go to the article “W124 Radiator Replacement” 3. Or go to this page: http://www.a-p-group.com/ashman/radiator.html 4. Our friend “Ashman” does an outstanding job of show and tell. Thai GI sends... |
when they do the head gasket, they should have changed the oil and flushed out the coolant. if they didn't flush out the coolant and just topped it off afterterward, oil could have already gotten into the coolant. i suggest you flush it out as described in the DIY section...

I think I will re-flush the coolant
The reason I even looked was I saw some green fluid on the driveway. So I thought maybe it was the coolant or something because MB has a different colored coolant....from what I read. I was just concerned when I saw oil deposits....but didn't see the milky color people often said about when they had the head gasket problem Now looks like I'll have to change the transmisson fluid and filter. Last week we had some major snow and ice and I think the car bottomed out trying to get out the parking lot @ work. Ever since then I've noticed some green fluid from the front end of the car. -ren PS transmission fluid is green right? |
green is coolant - and not the recommended one at that. MB coolant is either red or straw colored...

. . . . or dark blue !

thank you all!!!

MB Coolant is orangeish yellow, Transmission fluid is red. If you saw green it's coolant (not MB).
