W124 Water Pump - Hard Part Over
So I decided to start the Christmas season right with a Mercedes water pump replacement. After three hours, the hard part is over, after removing 30% of the parts under my hood, I have those pesky 4 bolts out and the water pump is free. Well...almost..
I cannot seem to navigate that pump out of the car. I twist and turn, but to no avail. It appears that I need to move the bracket that the tensioner adjustment bolt goes through (blue circle). I think there is a way to swivel that piece back, but it is not totally obvious. Is it one of the bolts towards the bottom of the power steering pump? I circled a number of points on the pic, not sure if any of them need removal. If my car didn't have so much oil residue, maybe I could see what I need to do! Thanks!

I took my power steering pump off when I did the wp. I think you only have one or 2 bolts to go until the ps pump is free.
Did you remove your intake?

No, I didn't remove the intake. But I am just having trouble seeing what bolts to remove to remove the power steering pump, or to swivel it out of the way. Anyone?

The ps pumps is free its just tight. Put a prybar or large screwdriver on it and pry it outboard.

Finally figured this out, there is one more bolt on rear side that needed to come out before the pump would budge. Once that came out, pump moved over easily and water pump also came out with no problems. Now I just need couple hours to put everything together. This is like so many jobs on these cars, if I had to do it over again, it would probably take me only half of the time.

Take the opportunity to check play on the fan clutch bearing bracket while you are in there.
Also replace the little rubber coolant hose between pump + head although I am guessing you probably are.
