Strut Mount Stop: what is it?

Can someone tell me what a strut mount stop is and what its relationship to the strut mount is? Would I have to replace the strut mount stop if I was replacing the strut mount.

Thanks...

I'm guessing you are referring to the "Top Strut Mount", which is the large rubber device the top of your W124 front struts mount into.

I replace mine whenever I replace those shocks.

Yes Michael thats what I am talking about but, when I was in fastlane, there was also something listed called a strut mount STOP. Do you know what that is? And should I replace it also when I do the mount? Thanks.

Yal:

The strut stop is a rubber piece that fits on top of the strut hydraulic arm, brick in color, and protects the strut casing if you happen to fully bottom out the strut arm.

I would recommend replacing them as well, as you'll see when you remove the strut it probably has deteriorated quite a bit. They tend to flake too as they age.

Good luck!
