Strut Mount Stop: what is it?
Can someone tell me what a strut mount stop is and what its relationship to the strut mount is? Would I have to replace the strut mount stop if I was replacing the strut mount.
Thanks... |
I'm guessing you are referring to the "Top Strut Mount", which is the large rubber device the top of your W124 front struts mount into.
I replace mine whenever I replace those shocks. |
Yes Michael thats what I am talking about but, when I was in fastlane, there was also something listed called a strut mount STOP. Do you know what that is? And should I replace it also when I do the mount? Thanks.

Yal:
The strut stop is a rubber piece that fits on top of the strut hydraulic arm, brick in color, and protects the strut casing if you happen to fully bottom out the strut arm. I would recommend replacing them as well, as you'll see when you remove the strut it probably has deteriorated quite a bit. They tend to flake too as they age.
