Dealership Alignment Opinions?
My 87 300d has had a ton of front suspension work done recently, and is majorly out of alignment. (pulls to right and when going straight the wheel is turned to about 2 o'clock) I had it aligned awhile back at a local shop and they literally did nothing to it, no bolts had any sign of even being touched underneath afterwards and it still pulled a bit. So I am exploring other options... Gemain Mercedes of Easton which is about 45min away from me qouted $129, and said it would take about 2 hours. Is this a reasonable price for a four wheel alignment, and can I trust a dealership to do this task right?
Thanks for any input! |
I am lucky in that there is a great independent alignment shop in our area. I've had all of my Benze's aligned there. Surprisingly, none were out of whack enough to cause problems except my '93 300CE. They found a worn control rod that when replaced solved all sorts of problems.
The alignments were done around $90 each car so $129 at a dealer sounds about right. Anziani '93 300CE 204K '95 E420 124K |
I would say thats about right. Not a lot of shops can align a Benz properly. In fact when I called around, most said they could not even do it. The one indy that could quoted me about $80. The MB dealer quoted me $129 for a full alignment.
Think of it this way, if you get it aligned at the dealer you qualify for free roadside assistance. It used to be free for life of the car, but last year they changed it to require folks to spend at least $100 at a MB dealership. |
