1989 300e courtesy/interior light issue
I figured since electrical issues are harder to track down and get help for, this should get its own topic.
Car is a 1989 300E. I'm having a odd issue with the courtesy/interior door lights and rear dome light. In short, they don't come on unless that car is on. The engine doesn't need to be running, but the key does need to be in and turned to at least position 1. I could have sworn the dome light and the specific door light used to come on anytime a door was opened, and logically thinking, it makes sense (as to give you some sight when it's dark). At one point I had to completely undo everything to the fuse box and reattach (insulation on one of the wires melted and the wire needed completely replaced). I thought this was connected to the courtesy light issue, but I was pretty good with tracking/labeling what went where on the fuse box. Additionally, I pulled every fuse to figure out which the courtesy lights run on, but they always came on regardless of which fuse was pulled. Any suggestions? -Hope |

How about the seats? will they move with the door open OR only with the key on as well?

Fuse
Yea, something is amiss here. I once shorted out my interior lights and had to replace one of the fuses.

As an added note, the trunk light is having the same problem: unless the key is in and electronics started, the trunk light remains off. -Hope |
