420 SEl instrument cluster out!

Hello out there!
The instrument cluster went out on my 90' 420 SEL. I started the car a few weeks ago and the fuel, temp, oil pres and speedometer were all dead. I pulled all the fuses to make sure they were not blown and making good contact and the instrument cluster started working again. This time it is out for good. I Did the same thing with the fuses and nothing, and now, my brake lights are out as well. All fuses are ok...Any thoughts would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks

OVP or OVP fuse may be the problem.

Its may be near the brake booster (inboard) on the back firewall. Small cover, mine is clear. Uses a "U.S." style fuse. 10 amps ONLY.

Fuse intact

Hi Lyl, I checked the fuse and it is ok. I was thinking it could be the OVP relay but wouldn't the fuse have blown if there was any problem in the circuitry? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Could be any number of things. I am not sure about the OVP relay being the problem, but they can go bad. Maybe take yours apart and decide if you want to refresh it. I re-soldered mine, it was pretty bad.
