Front/Rear Spring Dimensions 1991 300E
 

I have a 1991 300E base model with 230,000 miles. It needs new shocks and maybe new springs. I don't have the tool to test the springs. Is there any way to make a reasonable judgement by taking the springs out and measuring the length unloaded? I've looked on the forums here and in the online 300E manual at StarTekInfo and haven't found any spec for the stock spring length. Any ideas on how long they were new and how short they should be to be replaced?

I know it's easy for me to spend your money but ...

If you've bothered to take the springs and dampers off, why not get get a new set of original springs and spring pads from MB, they're not that expensive. Then you know that you've got the original, correct springs (they are NOT one size fits all) and you can then be confident that all's as it should be.

Springs depend on the exact specification of your car, including options like aircon, auto box and, even, radio.
